What's launching Oct 22–29: Final Fantasy Resonance, Modern Warfare 4, Minecraft on Switch 2 and more

Fifteen launches, updates for Metro Redux, Cyberpunk 2077 and Ace Combat 8, a name-reservation window and a discount deadline fall between Thursday, October 22 and Thursday, October 29, 2026. The headliners are Final Fantasy Resonance and the console versions of PEAK on Thursday, October 22, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 at 00:00 ART on Friday, October 23, Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 on Tuesday, October 27, and Phantom Blade Zero on PS5 at 23:00 ART on Wednesday, October 28.

All times are Argentina time (ART, UTC−3). We print an hour only where a publisher or store gives one; everything else is date only. Each date below was re-read on the publisher’s, platform’s or store’s own page between October 19 and October 21, 2026, and every launch is on our Release Radar.

Thursday, October 22: Final Fantasy Resonance, PEAK and a crowded Switch 2 day

Final Fantasy Resonance (Square Enix). Square Enix calls it “the very first HD-2D FINAL FANTASY game” and dates it October 22, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. On PS5, PlayStation Store Argentina lists the release at 03:00 UTC, which is 00:00 ART on Thursday. There is no single global unlock: Square Enix’s Asia portal footnotes “Steam: October 23, 2026,” while Steam’s US store lists October 22 at $49.99. No hour is published for Steam, Switch or Xbox. We first put it on the calendar in our October release dates roundup, and our consensus review rounds up the critics.

PEAK on consoles (Aggro Crab / Landfall). Landfall’s FAQ says the co-op climbing game is “coming to XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on October 22nd,” with cross-play that includes the existing Steam community, no cross-save, and “9.99 USD for digital.” Team PEAK’s Steam post says the update “will go live at 8 AM PT.” With US daylight time still in force (PDT, UTC−7), that is about 12:00 ART by our conversion; no console store page we read gives an hour. PlayStation Blog carries the same date.

Also on Thursday, date only:

• Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (Nintendo), a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Nintendo’s US store lists 12 motion-control sports, with Thumb Wrestling, Skateboarding, Power Cruising and Prop Plane among them, the online Pro League, and Wuhu Island to explore. It was first on the Radar in our autumn calendar dispatch. We saw no price on the store page.
• Hitman: Absolution – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Feral Interactive), an upgrade of the existing Nintendo Switch version, not a new game. Feral says it costs $29.99 at launch (25% off) and $39.99 from November 5; Switch owners get the Upgrade Pack free until November 4, then $9.99.
• FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves on Nintendo Switch 2 (SNK), digital only. SNK’s release lists a $19.99 Standard Edition and a $29.99 Starter Edition. A physical Starter Edition follows on January 21, 2027, in Japan only so far.
• Metro Redux Next-Gen Update on PC (4A Games), free for owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux. 4A says “this is not a full remaster or remake.” Consoles follow on October 29. Our Metro story has the details.
• Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, the Edgerunners 2 Update (CD PROJEKT RED), free on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. CD PROJEKT RED says it adds content inspired by the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 anime and “a range of other new items and features,” with the Nintendo Switch 2 release “to follow shortly.” No hour has been published.

Friday, October 23: Modern Warfare 4 at midnight local

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (Activision / Infinity Ward). Activision’s announcement says it “releases on Friday, October 23, 2026 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2,” and not on PS4 or Xbox One. The PC blog says “the full game releases on October 23 at midnight local time.” In Argentina that is 00:00 ART on Friday, as Thursday turns into Friday, and PlayStation Store Argentina lists 03:00 UTC, the same moment. No separate hour is published for Xbox, Steam or Switch 2.

Also on Friday: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve update Ver.1.01.002 (Bandai Namco) on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Bandai Namco’s Japanese news post dates it October 23 and lists campaign bug fixes, including several that stopped missions from progressing, plus shorter ECM, ESM and IEWS effect times in ACE COMBAT ONLINE. Monday, October 26: Scramble Knights Online on Game Pass

Scramble Knights Online, an MMO-lite action RPG, launches October 26 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Game Pass, per Xbox Wire’s ID@Xbox recap. It is Game Pass day one (Game Preview), per Xbox Wire’s Game Pass post. Date only.

Tuesday, October 27: Minecraft goes native on Switch 2

Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 (Mojang Studios). Mojang says it launches October 27, and Nintendo’s US store lists the same date. Every edition includes the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack with Vibrant Visuals. If you own a digital copy of Minecraft for Nintendo Switch, Mojang says you can get the digital Standard Edition for Switch 2 free “until the end of January 2027,” in most territories. Also on Tuesday: WoW: Forever Early Name Reservation (Blizzard Entertainment), PC, October 27 through November 3. It is only for players who pre-purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack, the Skyborne Epic Pack or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection, according to Blizzard, and names are first come, first served. Characters, names and guilds from the Stress Test are wiped beforehand. The game itself launches November 4; see our launch story.

Northgard Battlegrounds (Funday Games / Shiro Unlimited), a city-building auto-battler set in the world of Northgard, enters Steam Early Access on PC on October 27, per Shiro Unlimited’s Steam post and the Steam store page. No price or hour has been published.

Wednesday, October 28: No Man’s Sky on iPhone and a late-night Phantom Blade Zero

No Man’s Sky on iPhone and iPad (Hello Games). Hello Games says it releases October 28 and runs on iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air and above. Planetary Settlements need an iPhone 15 Pro or later, and multiplayer is not supported. Hello Games says it will be “free to try at launch”; it gives no price on that page, so we print none. Date only.

Phantom Blade Zero (S-GAME). S-GAME’s site dates it October 29, 2026, on PS5 and PC. On PS5, PlayStation Store lists “10/29/2026 02:00 AM UTC,” which is 23:00 ART on Wednesday, October 28. Steam has no published hour, so on PC it is October 29, date only. Our launch-time story has more.

Thursday, October 29: Mouthwashing on consoles, a retro trio and a discount deadline

• The Wolf Among Us Remastered (Telltale). Telltale’s game page dates it October 29, 2026, with a new black-and-white Noir Mode, on PC via Steam and the Epic Store, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PS5. It costs US$24.99, per Telltale’s October 20 post on X. Telltale’s launch-discount page lists 20% off for new players and 50% off for owners of the original game on Steam, Epic, Xbox and PS5, from October 29 to November 12; owners qualify on the same store, or with the PS4 digital version on PS5. On PS5 those discounts need PlayStation Plus; without it, owners get 30% off and new players pay full price. Telltale says prices vary by region and store. The Nintendo Switch version is delayed with no new date, per Telltale’s October 16 post on X, which names only PlayStation, Xbox and PC for October 29; the discount page still lists Switch as “Release coming soon.” Telltale showed a new story trailer in the October 20 ID@Xbox showcase, per Xbox Wire’s recap.
• Mouthwashing (Wrong Organ / CRITICAL REFLEX), the 2024 PC psychological horror hit, reaches consoles Thursday, Oct 29: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Xbox on PC with Game Pass day one (Ultimate, Premium, PC Game Pass), per Xbox Wire, plus Nintendo Switch (US eShop pre-order at $12.99, matching the Microsoft Store price) and PS5/PS4, per publisher CRITICAL REFLEX. No unlock hour announced.
• Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos (Argonaut Games), the remaster of the 1999 platformer, digital on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Steam and GOG, per Argonaut’s release. Our story covers it.
• STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT (MAGES. / Spike Chunsoft) reaches Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PS5 in North America and Europe. Spike Chunsoft says the Xbox Series X|S and Steam versions launched earlier, on August 20, 2026. Voices are Japanese only, per its game page.
• Metro Redux Next-Gen Update reaches PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, free for owners; 4A says Japanese console players get it in November.
• On Game Pass: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Mouthwashing, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and Terrible Lizards (day one) join Game Pass on October 29, per Xbox Wire (Megan Spurr, October 20). Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a Game Pass addition, not a new launch. On October 31, Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Full Throttle Remastered and Grim Fandango Remastered leave Game Pass.
• Enshrouded’s introductory offer ends. Steam lists $35.99, down 10% from $39.99, and says “Offer ends October 29.” We don’t print an hour, because the store page we read doesn’t show one.

Announced, not dated

• Fight Night (EA SPORTS). EA SPORTS posted on X at 15:00 ART on October 20 that “Fight Night is coming back,” from its @EASPORTSFN account. No title, release date or platforms have been announced, so it isn’t on the calendar.
