Kena: Scars of Kosmora will not come out in 2026. Developer Ember Lab said on October 1, 2026, that the game now launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5 and PC, in a PlayStation Blog post by game writer Thomas Varga and chief operating officer Josh Grier. There is no new date, and no quarter or season inside the year.
The reason given is polish. “Pushing our release into 2027 gives us the ability to really polish the expanded game experience we want to deliver,” the post says.
From “this year” to “2027” in under eight months
When Ember Lab announced the game on February 12, 2026, Grier wrote that it “launches on PlayStation 5 and PC this year.” The window never narrowed past that. So this is a year slipping to the next year, not a date moving, and there was no day on the calendar to miss.
That matters for how to read it. A studio that pulls a fixed date is reacting to something specific. A studio that widens an already loose window, with three months of the year left, is telling you the game was not going to be ready in that time. Ember Lab does not say more than that, and we will not guess at a month.
What Ember Lab showed instead of a date
The post spends most of its length on the game. Kena, a Spirit Guide, travels to the island of Kosmora to reunite with her childhood friend Orfio and to look into her own past; the post says she “is beginning to see her limits.” Kosmora had four interconnected cultures, each guided by an element, and “a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one of them.”
Players explore through what Ember Lab calls Spirit Guide temples, dungeon-style areas that pay out what the post calls transformative rewards. Kena also gains “a crystalline canine companion” that works as a mount and helps in combat and puzzles. Ember Lab describes the sequel as “a character-focused linear adventure but with a broader and deeper scope” than Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the studio’s 2021 debut.
Platforms and editions
The post lists PlayStation 5 in physical and digital editions, and PC as digital only. Steam’s listing names PlayStation Publishing LLC as publisher and shows the release date as “Coming soon.”
We have added Kena: Scars of Kosmora to the Release Radar as delayed, with a 2027 window and no countdown. It gets a date there when Ember Lab or PlayStation publishes one.
