Croc 2 remaster locks October 29 — and brings back Kingdom of the Gobbos

Argonaut Games says the Croc 2 remaster is development-complete and will launch digitally on October 29, 2026. The remaster restores the working title used in 1999, and packs a Croc2pedia archive with a 90-minute Croc2mentary.

The 1999 sequel is back under the name it wore in the studio. Argonaut Games said on October 1, 2026, that development of the Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos remaster is complete, and that it will launch digitally on October 29, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC on Steam and GOG.com. The Games Press release is the primary source; Steam’s store listing (app 4198360) shows the same planned date, with Titanium Studios as developer and Argonaut Games as publisher.

That date also closes a month Argonaut is calling Croctober. October 1 opens a run of news and social updates with the remaster as the end point.

The title the 1999 box never used

The game originally shipped as Croc 2. The remaster restores Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, which Argonaut says was the name used during development. It is a small change on the box, and a clear signal of how the studio wants the sequel remembered: as the mainland adventure that followed Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, not only as a numbered follow-up.

Co-CEO Mike Arkin put the date in plain terms: “Players now have a date for their next adventure with Croc, October 29.” Founder Jez San OBE framed the same day as another generation getting the sequel’s four villages and the search for Croc’s parents. Neither statement adds price, score targets, or a physical street date.

Croc2pedia and a 90-minute Croc2mentary

Alongside the levels, Argonaut is shipping an archival layer. The Croc2pedia is described as an in-game digital museum of never-before-seen development materials and cut content, in the same vein as the Crocipedia in the first remaster. Inside it sits the Croc2mentary: a 90-minute set of interviews with the original Argonaut team and the remaster developers, tracing the sequel from early concepts to finish.

That archive is the part of the announcement that sits closest to our beat. A remaster dated for shop shelves is common; a structured oral history and cut-content museum shipping in the same build is rarer, and it is what Argonaut is leaning on to distinguish this pass from a visual refresh alone.

Platforms, wishlists, and what is still open

Digital windows on October 29 cover Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and GOG. Wishlisting is live on the platforms that already have store pages. For Switch, Argonaut’s own link still sends visitors to an email form to be notified when Switch wishlisting goes live — the press release is explicit about that.

Physical editions are promised for “later this year,” with no date yet. We are not inventing one. The October 29 digital launch is now on the Release Radar.
