Key points

  • Square Enix says digital pre-orders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S get 48-hour early access. Xbox lists the Collection for October 6 at $74.99. Switch 2 gets no early window, so it opens October 8.

Sora’s whole saga gets a native current-gen shelf this week, but not on the same day everywhere. Square Enix launches KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] on October 8, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store, according to its June 9 announcement. The same release says digital pre-orders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S get 48-hour early access, and that turns the real start into Tuesday, October 6 for those players.

Tuesday on PS5 and Xbox, Thursday on Switch 2

Xbox has already put the earlier day on the calendar. Xbox Wire’s “Next Week on Xbox” lists the Collection for October 6 at $74.99 with Xbox Play Anywhere, and the Xbox Store listing shows the same release date. It says players who pre-order by 11:59 p.m. on October 7 get the 48 hours. Square Enix’s early-access line names PS5 and Xbox only. It gives Switch 2 no early window, so Switch 2 players should plan for Thursday, October 8. We have not seen an official unlock hour, so this brief prints none.

What is in the box

The Collection bundles three existing packages: KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC). Square Enix says all of it runs natively, not through the cloud, on current consoles, which is the point for Switch players who only had cloud versions before. Each package is also sold separately on the same four platforms, and HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX gets a native version on the original Switch too.

Square Enix stopped selling the Switch cloud versions on June 9, 2026, and says that service ends on June 9, 2027.

Paying twice, at half price

Owners of the digital games on Switch (Cloud ver.), PS4 or Xbox One can get 50% off digital pre-orders and digital post-launch purchases on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Square Enix. Save data only moves from the Switch cloud version to Switch 2. It does not transfer on any other platform. Each console also gets its own bonus Keyblade: Long Night on Switch 2, Midnight Blue on PS5 and Phantom Green on Xbox, where it comes with digital purchases only.

PC players should read the store names carefully. The new Collection on PC is a Microsoft Store release, and Square Enix’s official page notes the same games are already on sale on Steam as KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE.

This is a launch-week wire, not a verdict. We will not score a re-release we have not played.

Questions and answers

When can I play Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III]?
The launch date is October 8, 2026. Square Enix says digital pre-orders on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S get 48 hours of early access, and Xbox's own listing dates the Xbox version October 6. We have not seen an official unlock hour, so we print none.
Does the Switch 2 version get early access?
Square Enix's announcement gives the 48-hour early access to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S digital pre-orders only. It names no early window for Switch 2, so Switch 2 players should expect October 8.
I already own Kingdom Hearts on PS4, Xbox One or Switch. Do I pay full price?
No, if you own the digital version. Square Enix offers 50% off digital pre-orders and digital post-launch purchases on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for owners of the digital games on Switch (Cloud ver.), PS4 or Xbox One. Save data transfers only from the Switch cloud version to Switch 2.
Is it on Steam?
Not under this name. The new Collection on PC is sold through the Microsoft Store. Square Enix's official page notes the same games are already on sale on Steam as KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE.
