Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15 at 10:00 ART, 35 days before the game’s November 19 date. Its post on X read: “Watch the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer, featuring the debut of “Flower in a Hurricane” from original score composers Justice feat. Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19.”

What Rockstar confirmed about the music

At 12:18 ART Rockstar added that “Flower in a Hurricane” is “the new standalone single” from “original score composers Justice,” “Featured in the GTAVI Launch Trailer and on GTAVI: The Album.” In a reply it said to “stay tuned for more information on Justice’s official score album.” The score album has no announced details yet.

Rolling Stone goes further. It reports that Justice composed the entire original score, that the song is the first offering from it, and that it is among about three dozen original songs written specifically for the game. Those are Rolling Stone’s claims; the Rockstar posts above say “original score composers” and name the single.

What the trailer shows

The Newswire page for the trailer opens with Rockstar’s synopsis: “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America…”

The Hollywood Reporter says the gameplay in the trailer was captured on a PlayStation 5, and describes Jason as having “got in some trouble in the Army,” with Lucia calling from prison. Polygon, which puts the trailer at about a minute and a half, says it includes quick glimpses of intimate moments between Jason and Lucia, among them a shared shower and kissing. We haven’t seen a Rockstar statement about what those scenes mean for gameplay.

Already on the calendar

Rockstar’s date is unchanged. We reported the November 19 date when Rockstar and Take-Two listed it, and Rockstar’s leaders told Bloomberg how the game was made. This trailer puts the music up front: a named composer and a standalone single.
